- Two skeins of Alize cotton gold (Code 67) candle light
- One skeins of Alize cotton gold (Code 1) cream
- 3.5 mm hook, Stitch markers, Scissors, Measuring tape. Here is a set with one of my favorite hooks sets along with stitch markers and needles
- A 16″ x 16″ [40 cm x 40 cm] Pillow Insert Or Follow this tutorial and make it yourself!!
Measurements:
- Approx 16″ x 16″ [40 cm x 40 cm]
GAUGE:
Front : 18 sc and 18 rows = 4″ [10 cm].
Skill level: Beginner – Intermediate
Abbreviations and Glossary (US Terms):
- ch – chain
- sc – single crochet
- Mini Bobble Stitch (mini bo): Yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch. Pull yarn through two loops as if you are doing the first part of a double crochet (DC) (2 loops on the hook). Repeat one more time. So that you have 2 HDC on your hook and 1 initial loop (total 3 loops on the hook); yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.
Notes:
- The pattern is written in US terms.
- You may want to make the pillowcase 0.5 inches smaller than the actual pillow insert. To make sure that your pillowcase fits perfectly without any loose areas, pumps or gaps.
- Your stitch count throughout the whole pattern will be 73 stitches. You may watch this tutorial and apply it throughout the pattern to help you achieve straight edges
- I will be referring to the cream color with color A & to the beige with color B
- Although in the first part you won’t need to change colors for the mini bo. I Recommend that you work your stitches over the beige yarn. So that you have consistency in the weight of your whole piece. Since you will do this anyways in the second and third sections.
- All the rows rows between the mini bo rows are worked with color A
- If you are following the written pattern you may need to take a look at the chart every now and then to make sure you are on the right track

Back:
I made an envelope back for this pillow. However, there are other options for the back you can make one with buttons like I did in this one, or a plain solid back like I did in this one.
Using color B Make two of the following
Using a 3.5 mm hook, chain 74
Sc in 2nd chain from the hook and across, Ch 1, turn (73)
Row 2-60. Sc across, Ch 1, turn (73)
Finishing & Seaming:
Align the two back panel against the front, then before you join the front and back panels together. you should first sew the overlapping parts of the back over each other from the sides so that you have one back piece!
Then Finally, holding two panels together with right sides facing out, Single crochet the two pieces together. (as you see in this video).
You now have a cushion cover with an envelope opening at the back!
